The globalization process and its effects characterize the modern economy. Key factors in market competition become quantity, quality and speed of getting information needed for successful management and survival on the market. The best providers of quality information needed in decision-making process by participants on financial markets are financial statements, as the product of financial accounting. The fact that financial statements are made and disclosed according to the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), impose the need to research quality of information from financial statements. Authors of the paper present the preference for information by institutional investors on the capital market in decision–making process about investment in shares of listed companies. The research was done on the Croatian capital market.
