DETERMINANTS OF TRAFFIC POLICY OF CROATIA

Izvorni znanstveni članak

After introductory consideration of the concept of determinante and their role in traffic development and formulation of traffic policy, the author considers two important determinants of this policy. First, this is a geotraffic position of Croatia and second, geopolitical position of Croatia. These are two mutually related determinants which in some cases partly overlap by its character, thus it is not always possible to draw a clear line of mutual demarcation. But observed separately, they are so specific and peculiar that this gives a reason for their individualization and separate observation. Then follows the second part of the paper in which it is estimated the influence of relief characteristics of Croatia and regional characteristics on the traffic policy of Croatia. The third part of the paper analyzes two remained determinants which influence this policy, and these are transport demand and a form of Croatian government space. It can be concluded that considered determinants decisively influence the estabhshment and conducting of traffic policy, but that it is diffucult to quantify their real influence.
