The paper presents the results of a primary cross-sectional study on the competencies of human resource professionals in the Republic of Croatia and analyses the level of development of their competencies based on demographic characteristics. The competencies of human resource professionals were assessed by their colleagues, with a final sample consisting of 157 evaluated professionals. The study aimed to determine whether the competencies of human resource professionals in Croatia are associated with their demographic characteristics, specifically gender, age, education level, and profession. The research results indicated that the development of competencies among evaluated human resource professionals is not related to their gender, age, or profession, but it does relate to the level of their education.
